The Pioneer of Pianos

Last week I had the opportunity to attend William Steinway University in New York City. Under the bright lights in the “Big Apple” lies a legendary piano manufacturer known to virtually every musician–Steinway & Sons. How so? Steinway set the global stage as they were the first to pioneer the modern piano in 1853. Ever since, Steinway & Sons has been the leading manufacturer of handcrafted pianos and preferred by 98% of concertizing pianists worldwide. From learning about the sales process to seeing firsthand how pianos are built, I experienced a deeper understanding of what makes a Steinway a “Steinway” from start to finish.

Standard of Excellence

From the factory tour, I saw how Steinway pianos are constructed and the meticulous process each part undergoes to ensure optimal craftsmanship and performance for all players. For instance, Steinway only sources top-tier materials from exclusive partners and locations across the United States and in Germany. What makes a Steinway special? It is the people who create, chisel, and craft each part of the piano–that is the heart of the Steinway piano and why each sounds beautifully unique.

Steinway is for Everyone!

Did you know that Steinway also features a line of affordable pianos designed and engineered to Steinway specifications? Steinway designed Essex and Boston in the 1990s and have since provided all players the opportunity to enjoy a Steinway-quality piano at any stage and age.

Why Steinway?

William Steinway University was one of the best experiences I have encountered in my piano career so far! Steinway is not only a factory, but also a museum. They have preserved their manufacturing practices and rich history while keeping pace with modern innovation and technology for improved sound and action. The Steinway from yesterday is not the same as today–it’s better! I look forward to sharing more Steinway stories with you. Connect with me today to learn more or demo a Steinway to see for yourself why a Steinway is unlike any other piano you will ever experience!
