The CLP775 is a truly game-changing digital piano. Pianists can now experience the ultra-realistic touch of a grand piano with 88 Linear Graded Hammers in a digital piano size that will accommodate any home. This Clavinova also features the GP Response Damper Pedal, which gives pianists the opportunity to play with the intricacies of various depths and pedal points when using sustain. Paired with the ample tonal colors of the CFX grand and Bosendorfer Imperial grand piano voices, one can accomplish a powerful grand piano performance on a digital piano with an elegant, upright-style cabinet.

Experience the Resonance of a Grand Piano

When performing on a grand piano, the sound created by the vibrations of the strings reverberates throughout the entire body of the instrument, creating a powerful resonance that can be heard and felt by the pianist and audience. Yamaha creates this same effect with their Virtual Resonance Modeling technology (VRM). VRM synthesizes the reverberating relationships between the strings, dampers, soundboard, and piano rim for an authentic grand piano sound in the Clavinova. New with the CLP-700 series, VRM even produces the subtle sounds of dampers being lifted off the strings when the sustain pedal is depressed, adding even more detail to the rich piano sound.

88-key Linear Graded Hammers

On a grand piano, the thickness of the strings varies depending on which register of the piano they are located; thicker and longer strings in the bass register create booming low notes, while thinner and shorter strings in the treble register create twinkling high notes. This requires the hammers on a grand piano to be heavier in the bass register and lighter in the treble register in order to garner the right amount of force when striking the strings. The CLP775 replicates this feeling in the action through the Linear Graded Hammers, which creates heavier bass keys that gradually shift to lighter treble keys as you move up the keyboard.

Grand Piano Response Damper Pedal

The CLP775 features Yamaha’s GP Response damper pedal, which reproduces the same resistance felt on the damper pedal of an acoustic grand. This resistance allows the pianist to achieve half-pedaling, which is used to make minor chordal changes, or to shift the tone and depth of the sound throughout the performance.
