A member of the West Music Quad Cities Piano Division, Kathryn Stieghorst joined West Music in March of 2015. As a musician, Kathryn understands the special joy in owning instruments and has the honor of assisting customers in bringing that joy into their own lives.
Kathryn is a native of Sarasota, Florida and grew up in Peoria, Illinois. Kathryn’s grandmother started her with piano lessons when she was nine. In 5th grade, she was excited to start band on the alto saxophone, later adding clarinet in high school. Kathryn attended Western Illinois University in Macomb where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Business and a minor in Management. While there, she studied classical saxophone in the studio of John Vana. She was also very active in the various ensembles at WIU, her favorites being the Marching Leathernecks and the Steel Band. Kathryn was in the marching band for four years, two of those years as the saxophone section leader. The steel band provided her the opportunity to play beside Liam Teague, the leading advocate for pan in North America. Throughout her four years, Kathryn also engaged in four rewarding internships with the Peoria Symphony, Prestige Communications (Macomb’s local radio conglomerate), Respectable Artist’s Management and Publishing Inc., and Cadenza Artists LLC (an artist management company based in Los Angeles, CA).
Kathryn is new to the Quad Cities and resides in East Moline, IL with her cats Felix and Midas, whom she rescued in college while volunteering at the local animal shelter. When she’s not at work, or practicing her various instruments, Kathryn enjoys cycling, playing racquetball, fishing, binging on various shows on Netflix, and cheering on the only sports team she follows: the St. Louis Blues hockey team (Let’s Go Blues!).
